Classic Lord had run a good race in defeat on his second start for us, at Ludlow last month, and duly built on that to record an impressive success at Fontwell Park yesterday under Alan Johns.
The five year old, a formerly smart handicapper on the flat, had shown a good level of form over hurdles in Ireland last term, so it was very pleasing to see him win in such good style, making most of the running and drawing clear up the straight.
He does handle testing conditions very well and looks capable of making his mark in a nice handicap this season, off what looks a workable mark. We’ll look for something this side of Christmas and hopefully he can make a bold bid to follow up next time. Many congratulations to his owners, Roger Cox and the Pant Wilkin Partnership.
